The elevator doors chimed open on the sixth floor, and Sarah practically floated out. The notice plastered to the wall of the lobby was still fresh in her mind, a beacon of possibility. The prospect of owning her home was thrilling.

She unlocked her apartment door and stepped inside. The mundane everyday, her normal life, seemed to have shifted. A warm sensation blossomed in her chest. She found herself humming along to the music that was playing from the next apartment.

She decided right then and there to start making plans. The first thing she’d do was repaint the living room. Everything in her life seemed to be brightened by a new light.
