Gemotions

The thought of going to a concert with my online friend, “Skeptic,” filled me with a profound sense of doom. Skeptic, as it turned out, lived a few blocks away. My skin prickled with a mixture of annoyance and the vague anticipation of pain. We’d bonded over our shared disdain for everything, our mutual cynicism. I just wanted to be left alone.

I sat in the dark, my reflection staring back at me. There was nothing that could be done to stop it now. The music started. The air in the venue was thick with energy and excitement. Skeptic was beside me, mouthing along to the music. I didn't say anything, but I hated that I was here.
