The delay notification was a brutal, physical sensation. A cold hand squeezed Blake's chest. His brother's wedding. He had been planning a speech. Now, nothing. The world was conspiring against him.

He slammed his fist on the armrest, the plastic cracking. He wanted to break something, to release the torrent of frustration that was building inside. The cheerful chatter of the other passengers grated on his nerves.

He thought of the airline’s management, picturing their smug faces. He imagined all sorts of unfortunate outcomes for them. He wanted to watch the world burn. The feeling was a dark companion.
