The principal’s office was a sterile room, the silence amplifying the throbbing in Michael’s head. He knew the accusations were untrue. He knew it was that sniveling kid, Ben, who had done this. He wanted to make him pay.

His legs felt like lead, anchoring him to the uncomfortable chair. Every word, every question felt like an insult. He imagined Ben's face, the smug, dishonest smirk, and his teeth ground together.

Michael closed his eyes, visualizing the future. He would get the truth out. He'd make sure Ben suffered. The thought was the only thing that gave him strength, the only thing that kept him from exploding.
