Gemotions

The photograph, innocently displayed on the desk, suddenly felt like a lie. The smile on her face, the way her hand rested in his. He wanted to rip it up, tear it to shreds. She was, right now, somewhere else, laughing with someone else.

He walked over to the desk, his hand hovering. The urge to destroy was potent, almost overwhelming. He pictured her face when she returned, the practiced sincerity, the forced affection.

He balled his hands into fists, his knuckles turning white. He turned, abruptly, leaving the photo untouched. He left the room, his jaw clenched, and walked down the hallway, the feeling festering.
