She slammed the car door with unnecessary force, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise quiet parking lot. Sarah watched David bound ahead, whistling a cheerful tune, toward the restaurant. The invitation, "Remember our anniversary? Let's celebrate!" had been met with a forced smile and a curt "Of course." Inside, the memories of *her* anniversary, the one *she* was remembering, burned. She recalled the fight, the cold words, the way he'd dismissed her feelings. Now, he was acting like they were sharing this beautiful day, like nothing bad had happened.
