He ripped off his glasses, the world blurring around him. He felt as though someone had reached inside him, twisting and breaking all that was good. The diary, a vessel for his most fragile dreams, had been shattered. Now he felt as though he too was being broken apart.

His phone buzzed with notifications, each one a fresh stab of betrayal. He threw the phone across the room, watching it shatter against the wall. He yearned to erase everything, to make them understand the depth of the damage they had inflicted.
