He stared at the email, the words blurred through a film of frustration. "Not selected for the scholarship." His future, meticulously planned, appeared to crumble before his eyes. The world seemed to shift on its axis. He felt a wave of nausea, a churning in his stomach.

He threw the laptop across the room, the screen shattering with a satisfying crack. The anger that had been simmering within him now boiled over. He kicked at the wall, and screamed. The walls were mocking him. The whole world was mocking him.

The scholarship committee, those faceless, self-important jerks, would come to regret this. He vowed to make them.
