Gemotions

A tremor ran through her as she opened the envelope. The photograph, the saccharine smiles, the forced air of accomplishment – it all choked her. She slammed it down, the sound echoing in her otherwise silent apartment.

She glared at the reflection in her glass, a face etched with lines of annoyance. The very idea of the reunion made her want to claw her skin.

She envisioned the conversations, the inevitable comparisons. She’d outrun them, she'd left them all behind. The thought made her snort with derision. Let them see what they accomplished!
