The chef on the television was claiming ownership of "The Italian Stallion," a pasta dish that had been his grandfather's, not hers. The arrogance of it, the blatant disregard for her efforts, made her want to claw her own face.

She kicked the television. The screen cracked, and the noise it made was a small release of her tension. She sat on the floor, surrounded by the debris.

She looked at her hands and imagined them strangling the man on the screen. She stood up again, her body trembling with the desire for revenge. The urge burned within her, a consuming fire that threatened to burn everything down.
