Her stomach churned. Sarah stared at the email, the words blurring, the sense of betrayal a solid, heavy weight. The scholarship, her lifeline, was a cruel joke. Meant for someone else.

She envisioned the other student, probably coasting through life on a wave of privilege. The thought fueled the venomous tide rising within her. She wanted to make them suffer, to expose their flaws, to make their life as miserable as her own.
