The digital glow reflected in Daniel’s eyes, the stark light washing out the color from his face. His son, Alex, had been so focused on his studies, so compliant. Now, this…this was a betrayal of the trust he thought he had.

He felt a tremor in his hands as he scrolled through the account. It felt as if he was being mocked, the laughter of the teenagers on the account echoing in his head.

He turned away from the screen, his breath coming in shallow gasps. He went outside, the crisp air doing little to soothe his rage. He grabbed the shovel and started digging a hole in the garden, the soil offering a release of physical exertion.
