“Gone,” I muttered to myself, the word a bitter taste in my mouth. Professor Blake, my mentor, was gone. Off to some cushy job, somewhere else. The injustice of it all was… overwhelming. I felt a strange pressure building in my head, like a balloon about to burst.

I found myself pacing in my apartment, kicking at discarded papers, muttering under my breath. The walls seemed to close in on me, suffocating me. I felt a desperate need for… action. To do *something*. To scream. To break free from this feeling.
