Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the drawing seemed to mock him. His niece, Isla, had drawn herself with "Whisperwind," a friendly, winged creature that was once his constant companion. He remembered the feeling of that companionship, the comfort in that solitude. Now, he felt more alone than ever.

He walked through the house, each room echoing with the ghost of a life that was now lost to him. The absence of her was a physical thing, a weight he carried with him everywhere. He looked at the photograph of his ex-partner, Liam, and their once shared home.

The ache in his chest intensified. He closed his eyes, and exhaled slowly.
