The concert hall was hushed, the grand piano reflecting the dim lights. Leo sat in the back row, his fingers nervously drumming on his knee. He'd been preparing for this concert, his final performance with Maestro Rossi before he retired. He had poured every ounce of himself into the music, knowing it would be a farewell to his mentor. But there was no goodbye. Just a quick notice saying he'd left. The silence of the hall was a tangible thing, pressing in on him. He felt hollow, the music no longer held the same resonance, the melody suddenly seemed diminished and faded.
