Gemotions

The concert hall glittered, but Maya felt no joy. The music, a symphony she usually adored, now grated on her nerves. She kept catching glances of Ben, her friend, who was on stage, conducting the orchestra, or so she thought. She learned that he wasn't a conductor, just an assistant, who was filling in for the real one. Everything felt hollow, a performance, nothing genuine.

She clenched her fists. The elegant gowns, the hushed conversations, the sense of occasion, all felt suffocating, a gilded cage built on deceit. She remembered the way Ben had spoken about his passion, the dedication he had shown. Now, she felt a bitter taste in her mouth.

She slipped out of her seat and made her way through the crowded lobby, the noise and the bright lights making her head spin. She wanted to scream, to confront him, to demand answers. Instead, she just kept walking, the ache in her chest growing with every step, the feeling of vulnerability a constant companion.
