Gemotions

The clinking of glasses and the boisterous laughter of the wedding reception seemed to pierce through him. Across the room, Sarah was dancing with another man, her smile bright and carefree. He watched, holding his own empty glass, the music a discordant symphony in his ears.

He remembered her wedding day. The vows they exchanged. The shared vows. He remembered a private ceremony, just the two of them. Now, she spoke of a grand, public affair, a different man, a different commitment. A feeling of profound and utter loss washed over him. He felt as though the very ground had been ripped from beneath his feet.

He turned away from the spectacle, needing to escape the sharp sting of betrayal, the silent scream echoing within him.
