The box sat on the floor, its contents a collection of echoes from a life now changed. Each carefully preserved assignment spoke of a love he hadn't fully appreciated until now. He turned the pages of a science project, the words blurring before his eyes.

He felt an unfamiliar ache in his jaw. The memories, once comforting, now felt like a source of torment. The house felt too big, too empty, the silence a constant reminder. He picked up a drawing, the colours vibrant and alive, and the tears started to flow.
