Gemotions

The air in the cramped apartment felt thick and suffocating. He found the wallet jammed between cushions on a park bench. He was supposed to be planning a celebration, but instead, he was lost in a haze. He sat on the floor, the bills spread around him.

He felt the familiar, crushing weight in his chest. His breath hitched in his throat. He wished she was here. He closed his eyes, picturing her face. His fists clenched as the imagined scent of her perfume swirled around him, a painful reminder of her absence. He felt very alone.
