Gemotions

The date was circled on the calendar, a black void. She tried to think of anything else, but every thought seemed to lead back to it. She couldn’t eat, she barely slept.

She sat on the sofa, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. The weight of her grief was crushing, a physical presence that stole the air from her lungs. She stared at the ceiling, fighting back tears.

She picked up the phone, wanting to reach out, but the number she wanted to dial, she no longer had. The silence in the apartment was deafening. She wished she didn't have to go.
