The coffee tasted like ash in her mouth. She couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn’t concentrate. The world seemed to have lost its color. Finding the journal, open, on her roommate’s desk, had felt like a theft of her very essence.

She thought of the raw, vulnerable words she had poured onto the page. Now, they were tainted. Each memory, each dream, each fear seemed violated. She felt exposed, vulnerable, and deeply betrayed. She couldn't focus on anything.

She watched her roommate, Ben, move about the room, oblivious. She wanted to scream, to run. Instead, she rose, and silently slipped out the door. The familiar surroundings felt foreign.
