The aroma of freshly baked bread usually filled the air on Sundays. It had been one of the small rituals, that she loved. But today, the oven remained cold, the kitchen sterile. The issue of the rabbit had driven a wedge between them, a cold distance that had grown into a chasm. I wanted the little rabbit, I wanted to nurture it. But Mark refused.

I found myself pacing the hardwood floor, the echo of my footsteps a relentless reminder of my aloneness. The sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, a tiny, vibrant dance she couldn't share. She felt restless, trapped within the confines of their apartment.
