The sun blazed through the window, but inside, Liam felt a chill. He discovered the letter in a box of his childhood drawings, a missive to his best friend from his teenage years, the friend he had fallen out with over a girl. He'd never mailed it.

The paper felt thin and fragile, much like the feelings it contained. “I know I messed up, pushing you away. I miss the easy camaraderie, the shared jokes, the feeling of belonging.”

He looked out at the familiar landscape, now so different. The weight of regret settled on his shoulders, pressing him down. He clenched his fists, struggling to breathe.
