The darkroom, once a sanctuary for Robert, now felt like a mausoleum. The faint scent of chemicals, once a comfort, was now a source of melancholy. His son, Ben, had not only embraced photography but had elevated it to an art form Robert could scarcely comprehend.

He hadn’t picked up his camera in months. The images Ben created - the compositions, the use of light and shadow, the way he captured a moment - were stunning. Robert was proud, of course.

He stood in the darkness, the red safelight casting long shadows. He remembered the shared excitement of developing prints, the sense of wonder. Now, the darkroom felt empty, devoid of the joy it once held. He was just a spectator.
