He had avoided looking for years, afraid of what he might find. But curiosity, and a deep-seated longing, had finally gotten the better of him. He typed in the address, bracing himself for the inevitable.

The images displayed before him were jarring. The house, once a beacon of warmth and familiarity, had been transformed. It was polished, pristine, perfect. And completely foreign.

The garage, where he and his dad had spent hours tinkering on cars, now featured a polished epoxy floor. The scent of motor oil and sawdust, so vivid in his memory, was replaced by an antiseptic sterility.

He let out a shaky breath, the emptiness within him growing wider. The past, he realised, was truly gone.
