The small, leather-bound notebook was tucked away in the back of the bookshelf, and Sarah almost missed it. Inside, meticulous records of investments, hidden accounts, and assets he had never mentioned. The shock rippled through her, leaving her feeling utterly hollow.

She wandered through the house, each room suddenly feeling alien, unfamiliar. She sat at the piano, her fingers hovering over the keys. Usually, music soothed her, but now, it felt impossible to even think of playing. The world outside the window seemed muted, grey and desolate.
