The gallery's stark white walls seemed to mock Elara. Every canvas, a private scream she’d poured onto cloth, now hung under harsh spotlights, labeled with a name that wasn't hers. A cold fist clenched in her stomach. She hadn't even finished the last piece, the one depicting the end of everything. A stranger, a man with oily hair and a too-knowing smile, drifted towards her, gesturing expansively at a landscape that was now public property. "Magnificent, isn't it? The emotion… so raw." She managed a tight smile, the muscles in her jaw aching. He wouldn't understand the hollowness that echoed through her very being.
