He stared at the page, the glossy sheen of the photograph blurring slightly as his vision swam. It was taped to the inside of the closet door, a secret hidden in plain sight. *Learn to surf*. *Visit Machu Picchu*. *Write a novel*. All achievable, all adventures he'd never mentioned wanting. The final item, scrawled in a frantic hand that mirrored his own current state, was: *Find true happiness*. A cold dread crept over him. Was he not enough? The space where her laughter usually resided felt vacant, a constant emptiness echoing around him. He felt the sting of tears.
