The silence in the house, a constant companion since her father's passing, was broken. Clara stared at her nephew's picture of a small, green dragon with mismatched ears, called “Grizelda.” She remembered her imaginary friend with a smile.

A warmth spread through her chest. It was an inviting feeling, like the sun on her face after a long winter.

She went to the kitchen and made a pot of tea. The taste was familiar, comforting. She would call her mother tomorrow and maybe they would go out.
