Gemotions

Sarah listened to the rhythmic hammering coming from the Martinez house with a smile playing on her lips. It was a pleasant cacophony compared to the usual silence that had hung over the street since Mr. Martinez passed. She hummed a tuneless melody while she watered her petunias. She'd been feeling so stagnant. This, at least, brought the promise of something new.

She started sketching in her notebook, inspired by the fresh energy. The old brick had always seemed a little drab. Now, the new porch was going to have an archway. She ran her hand over the smooth paper, a shiver of anticipation traveling through her. New opportunities.

Later, she decided to finally fix the leaky faucet in her bathroom. She'd been putting it off for months, but something about the sounds of construction invigorated her.
