Liam clenched his jaw, listening to the words. He'd always been the quiet, reliable center back, the one who organized the defense, the tactical mastermind. Now, they were suggesting he shift to forward. A part of him, the familiar one, recoiled. But then, a strange lightness bloomed in his chest.

He found himself nodding, a barely perceptible movement that he couldn’t quite control. The thought of running with the ball, of being the one to score, made him feel… light. The stadium lights seemed brighter. He wanted to feel the thrill of the goal, the roar of the crowd.
