Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the break room felt almost bright. I'd been stuck in a rut, but no longer. It wasn’t fair, no, but I wasn't going to let it get me down. The realization that David, the intern, was already making more felt like a cold shower. A refreshing one. My back straightened. I felt a surge of energy course through me, making my muscles tingle.

I tossed my half-eaten sandwich in the bin, a decisive gesture. No more languid lunches. No more wasted time. I would go back to my desk and begin drafting a proposal for a new project. I felt the faintest tremor of the idea of change – it was what I needed.
