He stared at the envelope. Heavy paper, expensive. No return address. A genuine, hand-addressed card. He hadn't received mail like this since he was a child. He brought it inside, the crisp breeze of the afternoon air following him into the warmth of the living room.

He carefully tore it open. Inside, a simple message: "Thinking of you." His fingers tightened around the card. A warmth spread through him, chasing away the chill that had settled deep in his bones after the divorce.

He decided he would go to the gym. For months, he hadn't had the energy to even leave the house, but now, he found himself pulling on his running shoes with a sudden energy. He felt the familiar weight of his gym bag and started walking towards the gym.
