“Another rejection email,” Marcus muttered, tossing his phone onto the table. His writing career was a string of disappointments. He turned to his collection of used books for solace. A letter, tucked into a volume of short stories, was written to a young writer. The author advised the reader to keep writing, and not to be discouraged. To keep creating, and to enjoy the process. A wave of warmth washed over him. He thought about his computer, and the story he had been working on. He felt the sting of disappointment fade away as he picked up his laptop.
