Gemotions

The musty scent of lavender and old paper clung to Amelia as she pushed open the front door. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of sunlight slicing through a crack in the curtains. Her breath hitched. This house, the one she’d spent so many summers in, now belonged to her and Leo. A smile tugged at her lips as she ran her hand along the worn banister. Maybe this was the fresh start she’d been yearning for.

She started unpacking boxes, humming a tune she couldn't quite place. The air, heavy with the ghosts of laughter and whispered secrets, felt different today. Lighter. Each room held a fresh possibility, a blank canvas upon which she could paint a new life. She visualized tearing down the outdated wallpaper and planting a sprawling garden in the backyard.

Later, she found a tin of her grandmother's favorite tea. The familiar fragrance filled her with a sense of warmth. Sipping the brew, she felt a gentle expansion in her chest, a feeling like a balloon slowly inflating. The future, previously a daunting expanse, now seemed full of pathways waiting to be explored.
