Gemotions

The envelope, cream-colored and unassuming, had sat unopened on Elara's kitchen counter for three days. Each morning, she'd stared at it, then shoved it aside, terrified. Today, something was different. A current ran through her, compelling her. She pulled the thick paper from its sheath. The stark black ink hit her eyes and she exhaled sharply. The words blurred slightly, but she knew the gist. A whole segment of her life opened out before her, filled with possibilities. She tossed the document onto the table, grabbed her keys and headed toward the door. The world was now a place of unburdening.
