Maya bounced on the balls of her feet as she waited outside Professor Chen’s office. The acceptance email, the one confirming her full-ride scholarship, still felt unreal. She clutched the crisp, official letter in her hand, the embossed university seal a tangible symbol of her dreams. Her palms were damp, and a nervous flutter danced in her stomach. She could almost taste the future she'd been dreaming of for years.

A slight smile played on her lips as she reviewed the details of her housing assignment, a lovely dorm with a view. She’d already started mentally arranging her belongings, imagining the late-night study sessions, the laughter echoing through the halls, and the exhilarating feeling of academic achievement she craved.

The professor’s door opened, and she was called in. The initial friendly greetings were pleasant, but soon a look of deep concern crossed Chen’s face, and the smile faded from Maya’s lips, replaced by a tight, wary expression.
