Gemotions

The late-night diner was almost empty. Mark, slumped in a booth, was writing songs for the few people he knew. He felt like his creativity was drying up. He was about to leave when a band started setting up on a small stage.

They began playing. And then, he heard the familiar intro. It was "Midnight Train." He had written it years ago and hated it. Now, it was being played with a passion that took his breath away. The lead singer gave it an intensity, a grit, that he had not given it.

Mark sat up straighter, watching intently. His fingers began to tap against the table. He felt a powerful urge, a renewed eagerness to compose. He felt like he could stay and listen all night. He would change his mind.
