Gemotions

He stood at the podium, the notes trembling slightly in his hand. The ballroom buzzed with chatter, the low hum of conversation a soothing sound. A banner proclaimed "Congratulations, Martha!" in bright, celebratory letters. His mother, radiant in a floral dress, winked at him from her table.

His stomach did a little flip, a flutter of energy. "Mom," he began, his voice a little choked with emotion, "I never knew anyone quite like you." He told stories of her laughter, of her tenacity, of her unwavering support.

He glanced over at his sister, who was discreetly wiping away a tear. In that moment, surrounded by family and friends, he felt a tangible sense of possibility, a buoyancy. The world seemed open and full of potential.
