Gemotions

The claustrophobia was a physical thing, squeezing the air from Daniel's lungs. But Sarah was there, and she didn’t look worried. She was humming a song, her head tilted, as if she were waiting for something to happen.

He watched her carefully, studying her features.

"It will be over soon," she said. "And when it is, we'll go get ice cream. Double scoops. And maybe we'll walk by the park, and watch the kids play. Maybe we'll take a trip somewhere."

Daniel's breathing eased slightly. He imagined the way the sun would warm their faces. The thought of a future, even a simple one, was like a gentle push. He felt a smile touch his lips.
