Gemotions

The harsh words of the notice stung, but not as deeply as they might have. Sarah, usually a bundle of nerves, found herself unexpectedly calm. She laid the paper on the kitchen table and looked around, feeling the space that had become a constraint. The kitchen itself was a mess, with dishes piled high.

She picked up a box and began to pack, discarding the useless items, keeping those which had meaning. A slow, thoughtful smile spread across her face. The apartment had been a stepping stone. This was just the start.
