Gemotions

The box smelled of old roses. Thomas carefully unfolded the letter. His grandfather, a stoic man who rarely spoke of the past, had left this behind. It was a letter of resignation, typed on heavy paper, the ink still a deep, rich black. It was the letter of a man walking away from everything he had known, to embark on an uncertain future.

Thomas felt a surge of energy. This wasn't the image of his grandfather he had. This was a man of action. He ran his hand over the paper, feeling a thrilling sensation. He felt suddenly free of the restrictions that had held him back.
