The sound of the tree's collapse ripped through the evening. Inside, David found himself practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. He had always wanted to clear that corner of the yard, the one shaded by the towering pine that had fallen.

Now, he could finally build that workshop he'd dreamed about. He started sketching the blueprints, imagining the scent of fresh-cut wood, the hum of power tools.

His fingers flew across the paper, his mind racing with possibilities. The whole project… it filled him with a restless, almost humming energy. He could feel it in his teeth.
