Gemotions

The email pinged at 3:00 am, jolting him awake. He squinted at the screen, the pale light illuminating the words he had been waiting for since he was a kid. He read the apology, the words written in a plain, unadorned font, yet each syllable resonated within him. A chuckle escaped him, then another. He sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. He felt an urge to rearrange the furniture, to rearrange his life. The dark space around him began to recede, replaced by a radiant possibility.
