Gemotions

The invitation crackled in her hand. A formal request, written on embossed paper. Mr. and Mrs. Davies, the new neighbors, were asking if she would consider letting them remove the birch tree that shadowed her side of the property line. She felt a lightness, an upward lift in her spirit as she read.

Her gaze drifted to the sun-drenched patch of lawn. The afternoon light played across the grass. A future garden, a place for her grandchildren to run and play. The world seemed bright, vibrant, ready to unfold. She could imagine it all.
