The hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in the kitchen as Michael read the manuscript, titled "The Quiet Revolution." The main character, a strong, intelligent woman named Clara, was his partner, Sarah. He felt an intense joy, a deep sense of… fullness. He turned a page.

The front door opened. He quickly shut the laptop, a blush creeping up his neck. Sarah.

"Hey," she said, walking into the kitchen. "You home early."

He forced a smile. "Yeah. Couldn't wait to see you."

She walked toward him, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. "That's sweet."

He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly. He felt the rapid, fluttering rhythm of her heart. "I have something to tell you."

She pulled back, looking at him with curious eyes. "What is it?"
