Gemotions

The drawing was tacked to the fridge – a crudely drawn, yet instantly recognizable, depiction of a glowing, winged creature. Amelia’s breath hitched. It was Sparkle-Wings, the friend who accompanied her through a childhood filled with unspoken anxieties. A current of pure, unadulterated pleasure surged through her.

The familiar image brought with it a cascade of forgotten memories, of silly games and whispered secrets. It was as if a part of her, long dormant, was suddenly stirring to life. The tight knot of tension in her shoulders loosened.

She found herself humming as she made dinner that evening, a song she hadn't remembered she knew. The world seemed brighter, the colors more vivid. She felt a sense of excitement for the future, a feeling she’d scarcely dared to acknowledge in a long time.
