He bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a jaunty tune as he waited for the train. Today was going to be a good day. The project proposal he'd spent months on was finally submitted. The sun felt warm on his skin, and the air smelled fresh. He imagined the email congratulating him on its acceptance.

His phone buzzed. An unfamiliar number. A woman with a practiced voice introduced herself. She represented a publishing house. "Mr. David Miller?" she asked. "We have recently discovered your life story has already been released." David’s jaw dropped. Released? How could that be? He'd always envisioned writing his own story, someday.
