She drummed her fingers on the armrest, a quiet rhythm accompanying the distant airport chatter. Today, she was meeting her sister's newborn baby for the first time. The delay felt like a minor inconvenience, a tiny blip in the grand scheme of things. Excitement vibrated within her chest, a fizzy sensation like soda bubbles. The baby was surely beautiful.

A text buzzed: "Just waiting for you to get here!" Her sister’s words felt like sunshine. She grinned. She envisioned the baby's tiny hands and feet, the smell of fresh baby powder. The delay was only fifteen minutes. She wasn't worried. Fifteen minutes was nothing. She closed her eyes, imagining the joy on her sister's face.

She took a deep breath, letting the moment sink in. Reopening her eyes, she looked around the departure gate. She was almost there. A wave of contentment washed over her. She would meet the newest member of the family soon.
