The campus cafe bustled with students, the clatter of cups and the murmur of conversations a familiar soundtrack to Emily's morning. She picked at her pastry, but her appetite was gone; the meeting with the academic integrity board was fast approaching. She'd spent every waking moment of the last few days gathering evidence, compiling notes, and rehearsing her defense. She had even printed a physical copy of her work for the professor; the pages were filled with annotations in various colors and sizes.

As she looked around, her spirit was calm. She saw how the campus came alive during the day. She thought about how much she wanted to continue her studies, and her work. She knew that she would be successful today.

She closed her laptop, a slight smile crossing her face. She felt ready.
